IPS-520/521 Gas Meter Gateway

Product role

Bring existing gas meters into remote data collection

IPS-520/521 counts consumption pulses, monitors intervention events in a sealable meter-mounted enclosure, and communicates with the head-end system over NB-IoT or LTE-M

Typical applications

Retrofit data collection without replacing the meter

Pulse and status data from the existing gas meter reach the head-end through a direct mobile connection

Retrofit existing meters

Add remote data collection to installed gas meters still in service.

New meter deployment

Add communications to Itron RF1 and Honeywell BK-G4 meters.

Consumption data collection

Log pulse values and forward them to the head-end on schedule.

Tamper and health monitoring

Report magnetic interference, motion, opening and battery status.

Consumption alerts

Monitor blockage, leakage and Qmin/Qmax thresholds.

Key capabilities

Metering, monitoring and communications in one sealable unit

Meter fit, sensors, battery and NB-IoT/LTE-M connectivity form one field device

Meter-specific enclosure

Special plastic housing with a separately sealable maintenance door.

Multiple sensors

Consumption pulse, magnetic tamper, motion, opening and temperature.

Long battery life

10–15 years depending on messaging frequency, with replaceable battery.

Direct mobile connectivity

NB-IoT and LTE-M radio with broad band support, including B31/B72 options.

Scheduled and event-driven transfer

PUSH heartbeat, logs and alerts, plus response-based PULL operations.

Head-end integration

ABL or DLMS/COSEM message formats with an extensible protocol framework.
