IPS-239 Non-Stop IoT Router Pro whitelisted for the German 450 MHz network

The Intelliport IPS-239 Non-Stop IoT Router Pro (variant IPS-239-V5-R02) has been added to the German 450connect whitelist of customer end devices for routers and smart-grid equipment. It is now approved for operation on the nationwide German 450 MHz network of 450connect.

Before a device is whitelisted, 450connect validates the interoperability and quality of its LTE450 interface against the network's requirements. Only devices that pass this validation are released for operation on the network.

Two networks, one router

The IPS-239 carries two independent cellular modules, each with its own SIM card: an LTE450 Cat-4 module as primary for the 450connect network, and a 5G RedCap module with 4G fallback as secondary for public networks.

This lets operators separate traffic by importance. Critical control, protection and metering data travel over the dedicated, crisis-resilient 450 MHz network, while non-critical traffic such as service access or software updates uses public 5G or 4G. Load balancing spreads traffic across the WANs, and if one path fails the router switches over within a few seconds – with Ethernet WAN available as a further backup path.

Where it fits

Substations and secondary substations, generation and storage plants, water and wastewater networks, and remote access to PLCs, meters, sensors and serial devices – wherever communication has to stay up, even when public networks are under stress.
